What Year Is This? Skeeviest “Job” Posting In “Writing Gigs” on Austin Craigslist!

Every so often I look at the Craigslist writing ads, figuring that there might be something useful mixed in among the dreadfulness. Sometimes the cresting point of the dreadfulness is so high that you can’t help but notice it, point at it, and spend time mocking it!

This morning I found a fabulous offer in with the Craigslist “writing” ads, though I suspect that the only writing going on here is what other people will be writing about this job opening!

Here’s Hoping that this Fantastic Fest Will Be Less Bro-tastic Than Last Year

Ever since Fantastic Fest started in 2005, I’ve told everyone how amazing this sci-fi and horror film festival is. I’ve shared how much fun I’ve had, and how many friends I’ve made there. I’ve got a framed poster for the first year of the festival hanging in my hallway at home.

So it took me a long time to admit to myself how this had turned from a sweet little film festival with a bunch of film nerd folks, to what seemed like a gathering of the nerd juggalos at Fantastic Fest 2012.

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to go to the Austin City Limits TV taping of The Black Angels. This is the second time this year that I’ve seen the band, as I was lucky enough to see them at Austin Psych Fest.
At the taping I ran into two older friends of mine, who are grown-up enough to have hippie friends from hippie times.

On the Friday night of Psych Fest, 2013, the weather was perfect and the bands were groovy.
The first band I saw after driving straight from Houston was the middle-eastern sounds of Tinariwen.
This was followed by a blistering performance by the Suuns, which was just as intense as their show during SXSW 2013.
