You can catch Jad Fair at Echo Bridge for the Daniel Johnston Celebation

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to catch Jad Fair, featuring Brian Birzer and Cheryl Tepper at Echo Bridge in San Antonio.

I hadn’t been to Echo Bridge before that show, but it’s a lovely low-key DIY ish space in San Antonio that is totally worth the drive from Austin. Since I’ve seen Jad Fair play several times, I can say that I’ve the band sounded the best I’ve ever heard under Echo Bridge. (I’m sure the logistics would be awful for it, but they ought to do a “live from Echo Bridge” album!)

Today they are going to be playing the venue again at a Daniel Johnston celebration, which totally makes sense given that Jad Fair and Johnston worked together.

Tonight’s Daniel Johnston Tribute show includes not only Jad Fair & The Placebos but also Kathy McKarty, Amy Annele and Little Mazarn!

The event is organized by the Echo Bridge Appreciation Society, and it will be the last one until temperatures once again become civilized. According to the event website:

“You can expect a heart filled evening featuring some of Daniel’s most enduring songs, personal stories, art by Jad, Daniel, and more, and of course.”
