The Trip: Relationship Workshop
Relationships are hard, especially when both parties want the other one dead. That’s the premise of the fast, and darkly witty new Norwegian film The Trip, which burns as quick and hot as a grassfire.
It’s about two ships that would like to knock each other off in the night.
Starring Noomi Rapace, playing a not-so-successful actress and Aksel Hennie playing her television director husband, the chemistry is vivid between the two not-so-loving lovebirds.
The film manages to take what could be a bland setup and turn it into the freshest and most memorable dark, dark, dark comedy.
Add clever criminals–one who could have been Prime Minister if he had been born in a different hood, and stupid stupid criminals. Throw in one life insurance policy, some duct tape, a few cover stories that the couple has been telling their friends, and you have the makings of a truely wonderful film.
There’s talk of an American remake, but don’t wait to see this beautifully bleak Norwegian film. It’s just the right amount of murder.
Coming to Netflix October 15.
