Wright’s Trip to Soho

The fabulous new film “Last Night In Soho” screened as the first secret screening of Fantastic Fest, 2021. Being on a strict “no spoilers” diet about the beautiful and complex film, it might be most interesting to look at the musical backbone and the director’s musical DNA selection of what is a very musically driven film.

At the Q& A following the film screening at Fantastic Fest, Wright told the crowd both that he started working on the film with an inspiration list of 300 songs, and that there will be two records released for the film.

Since Wright directed “Baby Driver” it’s no secret that he is a very musically influenced director.

Chatting with a friend about “Last Night In Soho” my British musician friend mentioned that Wright had directed a video for his housemates back in the day. So I looked it up. Indeed he did direct some music videos a few years ago! Watching those videos, you can see a clear progression to where Wright is now as a director.
