Hanabi Album Release Show
According to quantum mechanics, there are an infinite number of universes that exist at the same time. Somewhere in the multiverse, 90s Britpop didn’t fade away, but is alive and well and out doing new things. Somehow an album from that universe managed to slip into ours.
At the recent album release show for the Hanabi album “Smash All The Windows” at The Lexington in London in April, that universe slip was clearly in evidence. Combing a 90s Britpop vibe with an unexpected touch of hygge and some snarkily clever lyrics, the album is worth a listen.
Maybe due to my hot mess of a personal life, I’m especially partial to “Sleeping On the Couch” and “We Are Reasonable People.” Maybe you will be as well?
“Don’t Waste Your Time on Mediocre Music” is (very) brief and punchy.
From the band’s Facebook page:
Hanabi will be releasing their very long-awaited debut album “Smash All The Windows” at the end of April. To celebrate this momentous occasion, they will be coming out of hibernation for a one-off album launch show. 20 years is, admittedly, a long time for a band to get around to recording their music, but they really wanted to wait for a time when they would make the least amount of return on their hard work. Thus the age of Spotify seemed perfect.
So yes, you can listen to the album on Spotify. You can also experience it on Amazon Music, Google Play,Tidal, iTunes and Apple Music among various other music distribution platforms in this version of reality.
