Last Night at Belle and Sebastian…
Every time you go to a show, it’s a different experience. Last night’s Belle and Sebastian show was the best I’ve ever seen from them, and the first time I’ve ever seen them play in a spot with a roof!
As my husband Paul Sicard described the show, the band was musically tight but personality loose–the best combination you could hope for! They even did “The Boy With an Arab Strap” as a dance number with all sorts of people up on stage.
In addition, Scottish Stuart Murdoch made references to the great price of the bus from the airport to downtown, the fact that it’s Austin Pride, and noted the phallic nature of the “come and take it” flag, which was from the first battle in the Texas Revolution. That flag is LOVED in Texas.
I even ended up explaining the term “twee” to a sweet couple we met at the show.
Umm, how do you end up at a Belle and Sebastian show without knowing the term “twee?”
* Yes, these pictures are terrible. I’m sorry. They were taken with an iphone.
