Busying Tidying Up
A few weeks ago, I bought a copy of “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” by Japanese home organizer Marie Kondo.
I’ve been working on cleaning things from my house, and I wonder if I’m up to the mental effort of trying her method of only keeping things that “spark joy.” Who knows, maybe I’ll try it in time for my next clothing swap?
You can read/listen to some first-hand accounts in The New York Times and on NPR of people who have tried this method for themselves!
Maybe it would work this well for me.
You can read an excerpt from the book here.
Update: Another fab tale of someone else trying the Marie Kondo method.
How crazy is it that I bought the same book , last week, as my Christmas gift to myself? Decided I needed to pause reading the other non-fiction title I’ve been (admittedly) slogging through, & become a student of KonMari, when life gave me a sign. I injured myself, stepping on the sharp, rigid, & decidedly point of the book, in the floor, by my bed. True story.

@NashvilleCath So is the method helpful for you? I’ve found it useful as a good reason not to keep things I was on the fence about!
