Thanksgiving Is The Gift That Keeps On Giving
Like many Americans we’re in day 432 of Thanksgiving leftovers at our house, so it’s sort of like Thanksgiving is still happening!
My parents are in their 70s– and this week they are both using walkers– so dragging them to Austin for the holiday didn’t seem like such a good idea.
Since my husband LOVES to cook and really wanted to make Thanksgiving dinner, we (mostly) took his kitchen with us to Houston.
After Thanksgiving dinner was over, we packed everything up (including a good portion of the leftovers) and drove our two cars–and our two dogs–back to Austin. Even my father said seeing us unpacking and cooking and re-packing was “quite a production.”
We’re still unpacking the kitchen at home in Austin, but the stock is made and we only have three bags of random kitchenware left to put back into place!
Pictured is a free-range heritage turkey from Mary’s Turkey via Wheatsville Co-op, or as I described it to the family, a “hippie turkey.”
No wonder I need a nap!
