Valentine’s Day Is My Favorite Holiday!
True confession #21: I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day more than the other holidays, maybe even more than Halloween. Then again, I’m usually EXHAUSTED on Halloween.
While Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday, but I’m a big fan of the glitter, glue, crayon and candy hearts version of the holiday. I could care less about the fancy dinner, blingy gifting, high stress kind of celebration. After all, it’s the only mainstream holiday we have that’s only dedicated to happiness and love! It’s also the only real bright spot in the long, icky, chilly, damp slog between Christmas and spring.
When I was in grade school, I was very sad to be home with the chicken pox and miss the Valentine’s Party at school. Maybe I’ve never gotten over it? My house currently features several strings of heart shaped lights and I drink out of a pink “I Love You” mug all year long. It also turns out that I’ve written a ton of columns, posts, articles, reports, essays and whatnots about the holiday over the years.
So if you’re all stressed out over Valentine’s Day, think of the pleasure you may have had once upon a time in making a Valentine out of a lacy paper doily and some discount glitter.
Below are some of my very own pictures of heart-shaped things for you to enjoy on this special day!
